Some users have claimed that they can see YouTube TV's multi-view feature on iOS devices, which suggests it could be officially coming to iPhone and iPad soon.
The multi-view option is already available on smart TVs and some TV stick options, providing a dynamic and immersive way to watch multiple videos at once. It's primarily aimed at sports fans, with options to watch multiple games at once during peak periods.
On the YouTube TV subreddit, some users have reported that they are already seeing the multi-view feature on their smartphones. In fact, one person even shared a video of himself playing four different basketball games simultaneously via a stream on ESPN.
YouTube's multiview feature still unclear
According to comments from a company representative on Reddit, this is not an official limited edition release. The official comment told users that this feature will be available to iOS users at the same time.
Ostensibly, this feature can be accessed through the app's Home tab, but it's only available for select games and users at the moment. It doesn't seem to have all the same features as the smart TV version, for example without the ability to display sports scores along with the stream.
You must have YouTube version 8.11 installed to access the multi-view feature. There's no official word on when this feature will officially launch, so keep checking the app to see if you already have access to it.
According to the same representative on Reddit, it appears to be limited to iOS for now, but an Android version is reportedly in the works in the “coming months.” One commenter claims that after opening the YouTube app on Android, they received a notification informing them about Multiview, but the feature did not appear when they clicked on the app.
Other upcoming features include a Picture-in-Picture option available in Europe and advanced labeling for photorealistic AI content.
