WhatsApp is introducing new chat filters to make it easier to find the messages you want and reduce the need to scroll through your inbox.
Three new filters will appear at the top of the app's main conversation list: All, Unread, and Groups. In a blog post, WhatsApp explains:
- every: This is the default view for all messages.
- unread: Perfect for when you want to catch up on conversations or see what conversations you need to respond to. It displays messages you've marked as unread or haven't opened yet, so you can prioritize your responses.
- groups: A highly requested feature, all of your group chats are now organized in one place, making it easier to find your favorite chats, whether it's discussing the weekly family dinner or planning your next vacation. It also displays subgroups of the community.
WhatsApp says the chat filter feature is rolling out now and will be available on both iOS and Android in the coming weeks.
According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is also developing a feature that will allow users to pin their favorite channels to the top of the channel list on the updates screen, similar to how you can pin chats to your chat list. Initially, users will be able to pin up to three channels, but WhatsApp has tested up to five. This feature is currently limited to WhatsApp beta users only.
