The so-called Oscars of fashion are upon us with the 2024 Met Gala! At the center will be style icons Zendaya and Jennifer Lopez, who co-chaired the event.
“Extra’s” Mona Kosa Abdi caught up with Adam Glassman to talk about what’s in store. “It’s their evening and they’re going to be the first ones up the stairs after Anna Wintour,” Adam said of Zendaya and J.Lo.
The ladies are joined by fellow co-chairs Chris Hemsworth, who expects Adam to be “classic, elegant and chic” with his look, and Bad Bunny, who can add a bit of fun to the outfit. It's possible.
Plenty of A-list heels will be taking the steps for this year's theme: “Sleeping Beauty: Reawakening Fashion.”
Glassman interprets this theme as “pretty, flower-like, and gorgeous.” “I think we’ll see a lot of vintage pieces because it’s really a work that reawakens fashion,” he said, adding, “It’s about breathing life into that work again.”
Will we ever see Sleeping Beauty? Adam thinks someone will wear a princess-inspired gown, but not Zendaya, who dressed up as Cinderella at the 2019 Met Gala.
When it comes to color, Glassman said, “We're going to see a lot of greens and reds. The inspiration is really the garden, so you're going to see a lot of roses.” A spring vegetable as beautiful as a young blade of grass. “It looks like someone is wearing a dress made of grass, but I doubt that’s the case.”
Met fixture Rihanna teased “Extra,” saying she's keeping her look “really simple” this year.
Other celebrities expected include Sarah Jessica Parker and Lauren Sanchez, who will make her Met debut wearing an Oscar de la Renta dress.
The gala is scheduled for Monday, May 6 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. You can watch the live stream here starting at 3PM PT/6PM ET.
