There are strange superstitions among medical professionals associated with full moon nights and unusual events occurring in hospitals. But is there any credibility to that?
while talking to new york postAs the Tuesday month approaches, “everyone's talking about it,” says John Becher, MD, of Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and formerly of AtlantiCare in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Becher argued: “sometimes [hospital workers] Come at 7pm and say, ‘Cheer up. Say, ‘It’s a full moon.’ With the expectation that that would happen. And of course it is.”
According to him, over the years, he has seen a surge of patients in hospitals with chronic, emotional and mental issues on full moon nights.

The report also noted that the word “lunatic” comes from the Latin word meaning “moonstruck.” It may seem a bit strange, but studies are cited to support this claim.
A research paper named “Popular belief meets surgical reality: How moon phases, Friday the 13th, and zodiac signs affect emergency surgery and intraoperative blood loss.” Published in peer-reviewed journals World Journal of Surgery The phases of the moon were found to influence the behavior of 40% of healthcare workers.
Dr. Frederic Kip Wenger, former chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, argued: “It’s not uncommon for people to have these delusions of grandeur and ‘I met Jesus’ stories.”
He also agreed to some incidents involving Full Moon, recalling one of his toughest colleagues collapsing after his foot fell off when he tried to take off a patient's shoe.
Despite the superstition, Wenger doesn't believe it. But here's another study by Wenger: AIMS Public Health We cannot ignore what many medical professionals believe from experience.
