Weebit Nano Limited (ASX:WBT), a leading developer and licensor of advanced memory technologies for the global semiconductor industry, and Efabless Corporation, a chip development platform, are using Weebit's technology to enable fast and easy prototyping of intelligent devices. announced a collaboration to do so. Under this agreement, Efabless ChipIgnite customers will have access to Weebit's resistive RAM (ReRAM) IP, an innovative non-volatile memory (NVM), which they will integrate into designs manufactured using SkyWater Technology Foundry's 130nm CMOS (S130) process. can.
ChipIgnite is an innovative open source chip design platform that makes it easy and affordable to design and build chips for prototypes or small-scale production programs in fields such as IoT, artificial intelligence, and other fast-growing applications. As ChipIgnite users prototype and test their next-generation designs, they can now leverage Weebit ReRAM to embed more system features into their products.
Weebit ReRAM is an advanced NVM technology that enables companies to create system-on-chip (SoC) designs that are more energy efficient, more reliable, more secure, and lower cost than using flash or other emerging NVMs. The SkyWater S130's Weebit ReRAM technology provides ultra-low power, speed, radiation immunity, and safe NVM for exceptional reliability even at high temperatures. The technology is suitable for automotive grade temperatures and is production ready.
As part of the collaboration, Efabless customers will pay a small fee to use Weebit ReRAM in their designs. If customers decide to put their design into commercial production, they will license the Weebit ReRAM IP directly from Weebit.
Coby Hanoch, CEO of Weebit Nano “The Efabless ChipIgnite program is exciting because it allows groups within academia, researchers, startups, and even large OEMs to develop and test new designs quickly and cost-effectively. As we begin this collaboration, we expect to expand industry awareness of Weebit ReRAM and grow the community of designers using our technology. Some of these users will ultimately want to license our products for commercial production, and we are working with Efabless to accelerate this process.”
Mohamed Kassem, CTO of Efabless, said: “Efabless makes chip design and prototyping easy and affordable. There is growing interest in creating designs using integrated NVM. We're excited to add Weebit's innovative ReRAM IP to our portfolio, allowing users to build more functionality and intelligence for applications like TinyML. “By embedding NVM on-chip in the prototype, designers can better understand the actual behavior of the device.”
