AMSTERDAM — Viking plans to begin winter sailings on the Danube in 2025, expanding its existing year-round river cruise service.
Announced at the 3rd ASTA River Cruise Expo held here, the river line will sail a new itinerary on the Danube River in January, February and March starting January 5.
The 10-day Treasures of the Danube itinerary travels between Budapest and Passau, Germany, with overnight stays in Budapest, Vienna and Passau.
Guests can add a pre- or post-cruise extension package that includes two nights in Budapest, three nights in Prague, or four nights in Prague and Nuremberg.
Budapest and Prague also have premium options before and after the cruise, including stays at luxury hotels such as the Four Seasons and Augustine Hotel Praha.
Treasures of the Danube is the second winter itinerary the company is launching after launching winter sailings last December with a 10-day Rhine cruise between Amsterdam and Basel, focusing on the Mid-Rhine region.
Rates for Treasure of the Danube start at $2,199 per person.
