Protesters were given information about last-minute ticket changes and then gobbled up seats to leave.
Kyle Rittenhouse's speech at the University of Memphis began and continued as chaos.
The university made last-minute changes to ticketing, causing confusion for people who had registered a few days earlier. Rittenhouse ultimately spoke, but the event included walkouts and harassment of Turning Point USA members after it ended.
Anger built before Rittenhouse's speech. He gained notoriety after shooting and killing two violent protesters in Kenosha, Wisconsin, during the 2020 Black Lives Matter riots. The jury found him not guilty.
The campus Turning Point USA group hosted Rittenhouse. The members were ‘doxed’ and harassed even after the event. Doxxing is the act of posting personal contact information or residential addresses and is often used to encourage harassment.
Protesters walked outside screaming during Rittenhouse's speech, with one chanting “free speech!”

TPUSA CEO Charlie Kirk criticized the university's handling of the event for allegedly failing to remove disruptions.
“We had thousands of people sign up for tickets to this event, but the school only offered us 330 seats,” Kirk wrote to X. “There is no overflow. “There is no bigger place.”

“The protest group received information about the school’s new ticketing system and when it would be released, allowing them to reserve a large number of tickets,” Kirk wrote. “Our students know this because they joined the group chat and alerted us. “This has never happened before.”
He said administrators “shrugged” when the campus TPUSA president was doxxed.
