Via CNN:
Former President Donald Trump has deleted a social media post that Judge Juan Mercan ruled violated the gag order he received in his New York criminal hush trial.
President Trump was fined $9,000 Tuesday morning for violating a gag order by criticizing expected trial witnesses nine times on his campaign page and in social media posts.
President Trump was ordered to remove the post by 2:15 PM ET on Tuesday and pay the fine by the end of the business day on Friday, May 3.
The post that paid Trump $9,000 is now gone.
It turns out that all it takes to get Trump to comply with a court order is to threaten to throw him in jail. Trump has a campaign event scheduled for Wednesday, so it will be interesting to see if he can keep it together in front of his fans. It may be difficult to figure out how Trump could be imprisoned and what the logistics would look like, but the former president left a Truth Social post wishing him luck.
Donald Trump wants to be a martyr and go to jail. He thinks prison will help his presidential campaign. So far the judge hasn't followed suit, but if Trump continues to do so, Judge Merchan doesn't seem like the type of judge who will tolerate nonsense.
