Star rapper Travis Scott was arrested Thursday morning in Miami Beach, Florida, after causing a disturbance on a yacht docked at a marina, according to a police report. He was later released on bail after paying a total of $650 on both charges, local news reported.
Scott, 33, whose real name is Jacques Bermon Webster II, was arrested at 1:44 a.m. on charges of trespassing and drunkenness after police were called to the marina and told that “people were fighting on a boat.” In the report.
There, officers found Mr. Scott yelling at passengers on the boat. Officers “could detect a strong odor of alcohol coming from the defendant’s breath,” the report said. They took him to the walkway below the dock, with Mr Scott walking backwards and shouting obscenities along the way.
The report said Mr Scott got into a vehicle that was waiting for him, but ignored the officer's warnings to leave immediately and began heading back to the yacht. He was subsequently detained.
Mr. Scott later admitted he had been drinking and “said, 'It's Miami,'” according to the report.
On Thursday, Mr. Scott posted on social media what appeared to be a doctored image of his mugshot, with sunglasses and earphones added. A representative for the rapper did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Scott is one of the most popular rappers in music today, with three #1 albums and a recent arena tour. His shows are known for their extremely energetic reactions from the crowd, and he is the most popular Mr. Show held in his hometown of Houston in late 2021. Ten fans were killed in a crowd at Scott's Astroworld festival.
Last year, a grand jury declined to bring criminal charges against Mr. Scott and others involved in putting on the festival. But he and others, including his festival promoter Live Nation and Apple, which livestreamed the show, have filed civil lawsuits over these deaths. All but one of the 10 civil lawsuits were settled.
