But the screen icon's choice in what he considers to be his toughest role was truly surprising.

“It’s actually really hard work!” Hardy said. “You have to work with kids or try to get them to bed. Tell them it's hard work! The hardest job on earth is getting kids to go to bed on time.”
“It’s definitely the hardest role I’ve ever had,” Hardy said with a laugh. “And it’s probably the closest one to me.”
Hardy is a father of three children. including two children with his wife, Charlotte Riley; — Although they were born in 2015 and 2019, the names or genders of the two children have never been revealed. He also has a 16-year-old son, Louis, from a previous relationship with Rachael Speed.
Hardy joked that although he has professional experience reading bedtime stories, he doesn't get much respect when it comes to putting his own children to sleep.

Hardy reflected on his role as Johnny, Benny's mentor of sorts, and how he never seemed to gravitate toward mentors or close-knit cliques while navigating Hollywood.
“I didn’t want to break away from any community,” Hardy admits. “Then I really want to be a part of it. [of one], 'Why don't I have any friends?!'… I just want to be alone, 'Leave me alone, I'll do it, it's okay, I don't like it' Anyone!' But to do that, you have to make sure everyone listens to you.”
“I want to be invited, but you know I don’t want to come, right?” Hardy said with a smile. “For example, I want to have all the joys and pleasures of community without having to be happy all the time.”
