A diverse metropolitan area with a population of 3 million and a combined metropolitan area of 6 million, Toronto is Canada's largest city. Although not the capital, neighboring Ottawa enjoys that honor. Located just across New York State, on the northern shore of Lake Ontario, Toronto's history spans from the early settlement of First Nation communities to the growth of the Victorian era to its current development as a center for arts and entertainment, business and industry, and industry. more. The city has also long been known for its multiculturalism, with around 200 languages(!) spoken in the area.
This rich history, diverse culture and cuisine, green spaces and parks, numerous museums, and of course the famous CN Tower make this city a great place to explore with children. It doesn't hurt that the locals are definitely friendly and relaxed.
Favorite things to do in Toronto with kids
CN Tower
Built in 1976 at a height of 1,815 feet, the CN Tower is a symbol of Canadian ingenuity and national pride. It was built in part to solve communications and broadcasting problems that arose in the 1960s as Toronto transformed from a city of low-rise buildings to a city of high-rise buildings. Families and guests can take the elevator to the observation deck level in just 58 seconds and view the city skyline through floor-to-ceiling windows. Other attractions include the new Edgewalk and a glass floor where you can walk, sit and run while overlooking the street. The Edgewalk is a wide ledge surrounding the tower that allows visitors to safely walk while wearing a harness. It's not for the faint of heart!

Blue Jays Baseball Game
Roger Center, located next to the CN Tower, is the home stadium of the Toronto Blue Jays baseball team, which competes in Major League Baseball (MLB). The impressive stadium boasts a retractable roof and seating for 50,000. Like most kids, my kids loved every baseball game experience, from watching the players slide to home plate to eating popcorn and candy to hearing the national anthem. Canada.
center island
The day we spent at Centerville Theme Park on Center Island, a quick ferry ride from downtown, was probably the kids' favorite excursion. The ride has a younger slant, making it perfect for 3- and 7-year-olds and their cousins. All rides were popular, from spinning teacups to bumper boats and the sky lift (even the adults enjoyed it). With plenty of green space and picnic spots, it's easy to see why this island is a popular summer destination.
Ontario Science Center
Established in 1969, the science center is located on the outskirts of the city, a 15-minute drive from downtown. From a planetarium to a rainforest space with poison dart frogs, there is so much to see and do at the science center. We spent a lot of time in the KidSpark section, which had several stations for young children to learn through play.
other possibilities
Here are the attractions we chose to visit during our week-long trip to Toronto and Niagara Falls. But there were also a few attractions we skipped, including the Toronto Zoo, Casa Loma, and the Royal Ontario Museum. This city is definitely having a foodie moment. Although not the focus of the trip, we had pizza at Descendant one night (delicious!) and chilaquiles and churros at RosaLinda on our last evening. We spent one evening walking around Little India and buying dosas for dinner.
We also took a quick stroll through the historic food hall, St. Lawrence Market, taking in the sights and smells of summer produce, baked goods, and more. On our way back from the market, we happened to pass by the dog fountain in Berzcy Park. There are 27 cast iron dogs spouting water. It was a huge hit with our begging kids, especially our 7-year-old. It's heavy for our four-legged friend. I had no idea this fountain had just debuted a year ago and probably didn't bother to look for it. But it ended up being some of our best memories from the trip. It was a fitting reminder of the beauty of travel and the surprises that come with it.
