Rachel Maddow points out that Donald Trump's Republican Party appears to be disintegrating itself.
Transcript via MSNBC/The Rachel Maddow Show:
In short, this is a party with no party platform, no general nomination process for candidates, no preliminary debates, and no general election debates. They're having the worst consecutive electoral performance of any political party since before FDR, and it's all because that's what Trump wants.
Of course, why would anything else matter? Who could doubt the political instincts of a man with this experience? With this kind of election tracking report.
A man handed out fake “I’m an Auto Worker” signs at a fake union event in Michigan and then publicly turned in his receipts. Who could doubt a man with political instincts of such genius?
Why have political parties when you can just follow where he leads?
Political parties are not the most important institutions in democracy. But they are part of it. And now one of the two major political parties in our country is disbanding. And this very night, it is preparing to potentially oust yet another top leader. All of this is to no longer do normal party activities and normal democratic activities, but to do things for their great leader.
And I don't know how many of you watching this tonight are lamenting the disease and the possible demise of the Republican Party as an institution. But if we're going to have a two-party democracy, we need some kind of two-party system. Otherwise we are no longer a system. We will have to evolve into something else.
I mean, what we're changing very quickly now is that we have political parties on one side and men on the other. This is the man who will go before the U.S. Supreme Court this week to decide whether he can. You will never be eligible to hold federal office again. What do you call such a system? What could go wrong?

What is happening within the Republican Party is what Trump wants to do to America. Donald Trump wants to get rid of institutional structures and democracy. The replacement will do what the leader wants.
Trump has hollowed out the Republican Party and turned it into an organization that only serves the interests of one person.
Mitch McConnell killed bipartisan border bill. Because Donald Trump is the leader and he wanted the bill gone. Rachel Maddow was right. Trump's fall of the Republican Party is not because of the fall of the Republican Party, but rather shows what can happen when democracy is replaced by an authoritarian model.
