In addition to the crowds of people crossing the southern U.S. border every day, another crisis is unfolding. Thousands of dogs are being abandoned by illegal border crossers who brought their pets with them only to discover they are not allowed in.
These dogs that are left behind are breeding, which only makes the problem worse.
Last December, a reporter told a story about rescuing an abandoned puppy.
We definitely need more people to rescue these poor dogs.
TMZ reported:
Dogs abandoned by immigrants… Reporters and National Guardsmen are caring for the cubs
Something crazy is happening on our southern border. Immigrants trying to enter the United States with dogs are being forced to leave them behind, creating a whole other crisis.
FNC reporter Matt Finn is on the scene in Eagle Pass, Texas, and joined “TMZ Live” Thursday to reveal what he's seeing firsthand and how he and other TV crews are getting involved and taking their dogs.
Matt said many immigrants try to cross the border with their dogs, but are told they can't take them to federal processing centers, leaving strays wandering the border.
The situation left the dogs in need of food, water and shelter. Matt said the National Guard was looking after some of the dogs and he and his producer also helped.
If you're a dog person, this will drive you crazy.
There are too many border babies. Does anyone want this guy in Eagle Pass? He has a tough look, but he's so sweet. pic.twitter.com/B5QSw7aO2k

Border Pupdate Today we found the dog we took to the vet last year for flea and tick medication (left). He looks healthy, not scratching and sunbathing by the river. pic.twitter.com/wmrefRRcOe

We have great news from a reporter who rescued a puppy at the border last December.
A month since we rescued Bella at the border. She is doing well and when it is time to feed her this is her happy dance. pic.twitter.com/5EkGRtYvSY

What kind of person would leave an innocent dog behind?
