ALLEN, Texas (TCD) — A 36-year-old woman who was barricaded in her attic was taken into custody when police stormed the home to arrest her on suspicion of assault.
At 8:53 a.m. on February 5, the Allen Police Department SWAT team went to Lul Top's home in the 1500 block of Tanglewood Drive to serve arrest warrants for six people on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and execute a search warrant for the residence. Went. Top reportedly locked himself in the attic when SWAT members entered and did not negotiate with the team. About an hour later, SWAT members deployed chemicals. I surrendered at 10:50 am.
A judge denied Top Bond, deeming it a “danger to the community,” according to Collin County court records.
According to Top's warrant cited by KDFW-TV on January 8, Top is accused of hitting her husband with a stick while their six children witnessed. Child Protective Services removed the children from the home and later spoke with Children's Advocacy Center officials. Top's 3-year-old child claimed that Top tried to push him into a heated oven. Her child's 10-year-old brother rescued the girl and reportedly had to fight her tower to save her.
Other siblings said T.O.P drank regularly, and when he finished drinking, it made them crave more. He reportedly told her that if she didn't drink more he would cut off her hand with a kitchen knife, she said. One child said her tower held a knife to her own tongue and forced her to drink. She claimed in her affidavit that Top threatened to kill her children with her kitchen knife.
KDFW reported that the 3-year-old and his 4-year-old brother had marks “like knife cuts” on their bodies.
A man filed for a protection order against her on February 2, but her relationship with T.O.P. was not immediately clear.
