Tesla cut prices for its electric vehicles in the U.S., China and other countries, a comparison on its website showed later Friday and during the weekend show.
In the U.S., the starting price of Model Pricing for the Model 3 and Cybertruck remained the same.
In China, Tesla has reduced the price of all models sold to 14,000 yuan, with the cheapest model slashing the price by just over 5%. China is Tesla's largest market outside of the U.S., accounting for more than a fifth of its sales, according to the company's latest annual report.
The company has also lowered the starting prices of most of its cars in Germany. A Tesla spokesperson told the Guardian and Reuters that there were also price cuts in many other countries in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
The news comes as Tesla delivered fewer cars last quarter than in the same quarter last year. This has never happened in 4 years. The company is scheduled to announce its first quarter results on Tuesday. Previously, owner Elon Musk had spoken about competition, especially cheaper EV models made by Chinese companies.
Tesla announced a recall for its Cybertruck on Friday due to safety issues related to the accelerator pedal. The electric car maker laid off 10% of its employees on Tuesday. The company's stock price has fallen to the level it was a year ago.
