Ah, yes, thinker, okay. Move house.
‘Spaceman’ synopsis
in astronautBased on Jaroslav Kalfař's novel The Spaceman of Bohemia, Adam Sandler plays Jakub, an astronaut adrift in space.
Part sci-fi epic, part love story, and part film sequel, Adam's astronaut character is on a solitary six-month mission at the edge of the solar system. He set out to learn more about this massive purple cloud that has been creeping towards Earth for years.
Feeling extremely lonely, Yaqub begins to worry about the marriage he left behind. As he begins to think that their relationship will not survive the trip, they encounter a mysterious giant spider-like alien known as Hanuš (voiced by Paul Dano).
As it turns out, Hanuš is a creature of the dawn with special abilities to help Jakub find his way, showing him fantastic visions that can solve life's serious problems.
Jakub and Hanuš clearly become friends, but this is not a buddy movie. This is a deep dive into men dealing with mental health and marriage.
‘Spaceman’ ending, explanation
To be honest, the entire movie is rather disappointing. While Jakub talks to the mysterious alien spider about his problems, his wife is pregnant and ready to return to Earth and book him into her home.
Simply put, he is afraid that she will leave him. He's right.
He continues to treat her badly, even in space, and continues to choose his passions and work over his family.
But thankfully, with Hanuš's help, Jakub realizes that he has been selfish and, more importantly, realizes that he can change. There is a great line that Hanuš says to Jakub. “Everything is eternal, but nothing is.”
But at the end astronautJakub is almost killed when he emerges from the spaceship to save Hanuš. The person we are supposed to point out may not be real.
But through this, Jakub shows that he is ready to think of others before himself, and thankfully, he is rescued from space by a Korean and is given a second chance at life with his wife.
Was Hanush real?
Honestly, it all depends on personal interpretation.
Since Jakub is alone in his mission, there is no one around to check if there really is a giant alien spider giving him life advice from deep in space.
Perhaps Hanuš is a product of Jakub's imagination and conscience. It is a vision that gives you the opportunity to visualize and talk about your problems while being completely alone.
