Rupert Murdoch married 67-year-old Elena Zhukov (his 5th wife) at the age of 93.
His engagement to Zhukova, a retired molecular biologist, was confirmed in March, and the wedding took place at Moraga, Murdoch's California estate and vineyard.
Murodić, who met Zhukova at a family gathering in 2023, nine months after handing over the chairmanship of the media empire to his son Lachlan at a ceremony attended by close friends and family, wore a dark suit and patterned yellow tie.
Meanwhile, the bride was wearing a white dress and holding a small bouquet of lily of the valley flowers.
This wedding is Murdoch's fifth marriage. Her previous marriage was to Jerry Hall, a supermodel and ex-wife of Mick Jagger, from 2016 to 2022.
He first married flight attendant Patricia Booker in 1956, and the couple divorced in 1967 after 11 years of marriage. The couple has one child, a daughter, Prudence.
In the same year as his divorce from Booker, Murdoch married his second wife, Scottish journalist Anna Maria Torv, and they had three children, Elizabeth, Lachlan and James.
Murdoch divorced in 1999 after 32 years of marriage, and a few months later he married Wendy Deng, with whom he had two daughters, Grace and Chloe. The two divorced in 2013.
After divorcing supermodel Hall in the summer of 2022, Murdoch had a short-lived engagement to retired dental hygienist Anne Leslie Smith in the spring of 2023, which ended after just two weeks.
Murdoch's third wife, Deng, is believed to have introduced him to Zhukova.
Zhukova is a distinguished molecular biologist who primarily studies diabetes and has conducted research at institutions around the world, including the University of California, Los Angeles.
Around the time the Soviet Union collapsed, she came to the United States from Moscow with her ex-husband, Alexander Zhukov, who eventually became a billionaire energy investor. Their daughter, philanthropist Dasha Zhukova, was married to Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich until 2017.
In September 2023, Murdoch announced that he would resign as CEO of Fox Corp and News Corp.
However, Rupert said he plans to remain as honorary chairman as his son Lachlan takes up the position he left behind.
“I have been exposed to news and ideas every day throughout my professional life, and that will not change,” he wrote in a letter to employees at the time. “But the time has come for me to take on a variety of roles, as I know we have a truly talented team in Lachlan and a passionate and principled leader who will become sole chairman of both companies.”
Murdoch's recent marriage is unlikely to have a significant impact on his business affairs since Fox Corporation and News Corporation are controlled by family trusts. All shares belong to Murdoch and his four eldest children (Prudence, Elizabeth, Lachlan and Murdoch). James.
