Ronna McDaniel announced Monday that she will resign as chairwoman of the Republican National Committee on March 8, days after Super Tuesday, after Donald Trump endorsed the new RNC leader.
McDaniel's resignation follows President Trump's refusal to accept the RNC's refusal to hold a primary debate and saying the committee should focus more on voter integrity issues. Earlier this month, Trump said he expected “change” at the RNC.
“I have decided to withdraw from spring training in Houston on March 8 to allow the candidate to select a chair of his or her choice,” McDaniel said in a statement. “The RNC has historically changed when it has candidates, and it has always been our intention to honor that tradition. “I remain committed to taking back the White House and electing Republicans up and down the ballot in November.”
