Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-SC) had a message for Democrats who were nervous about Biden’s debate performance. He advised them to cool off.
According to Dylan Wells of The Washington Post, Clyburn told reporters:
Rep. Jim Clyburn said he plans to call Biden today to tell him to “stay the course.”
He said, “There is no better Democrat than him,” and instructed nervous Democrats to “remain calm.”
The worst thing Democrats can do is minimize Biden's debate performance. Biden and his party should learn from what happened in the debate. Biden should use the debate as a lesson and adjust his campaign.
The president should make more campaign events and public appearances. Some nationally televised town halls where he takes questions from viewers and reporters would really help.
Overall, the fears and suggestions that President Biden should be excluded from the nomination are overblown. Clyburn is right. Democrats need to cool down, but Biden and his party should not ignore what happened in the debate.
