Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) explained on CNN why Marjorie Taylor Greene's attacks are racist and MAGA racist.

When asked by CNN's Jake Tapper to explain why he thought Greene's comments were racist, Rep. Crockett said, “I think she did it specifically to me.” Yes, that was the intention. As already mentioned, women put on makeup, put on eyelashes, and wear all kinds of clothes to beautify themselves. But MAGA has historically done this thing on social media where they say, 'Oh, she's black with eyelashes and fingernails and hair.' So she's ghetto. So to me this is her taking that rhetoric and trying to amplify it for the MAGA crowd. So, yeah, I absolutely think she did that to be racist towards me.”
Tapper asked, “Is it because it’s directed at you, or is it because of the eyelashes?” So in that sense, do you think it’s similar to buying into racist tropes?”
Representative Crockett responded: “It’s about embracing racist tropes. But the reality is that women of all skin colors wear eyelashes, right?”

I love the way Jake Tapper presents these questions. Tapper is neither black nor a woman, so she doesn't know what racism against black women means. He said from the beginning of the interview that he wanted to understand her position.
Rep. Crockett's point was something rarely covered on cable news: the racism that makes MAGA's beating heart. Trump's MAGA movement is based on racism. It's been that way since the day the former president came down the Trump Tower escalator and gave a speech calling Mexicans murderers and rapists.
MAGA is built on racism, Marjorie Taylor Greene was participating in that racism, and more Democrats should follow Rep. Crockett's lead and call it out in the media when they have the chance.
