In 2005, the parents of identical quadruplets Ellie, Jessica, George and Holly were told they had a better chance of winning the lottery than seeing all four babies survive.
But the quadruplets miraculously beat the odds and turn 18 this week. And for the first time in their lives, the sisters are separated from each other. Good News Network It has been reported.
To celebrate their milestone, the girls asked their parents Julie and Jose to join them for a celebratory dinner and a concert to attend together in Bedfordshire, England.
“They didn’t really ask for much,” Julie said. “We will celebrate the day as a family. We are very close.
“Then they will go to the adult world and do their own thing. I think they will miss each other but enjoy their freedom.”
Eighteen years ago, the couple found out at an 11-week scan that they were a monochorionic baby with quads and dependent on a shared placenta.
“At first the sonographer said there was a low chance of survival. We were shocked. We did some research over the weekend and accepted. It was like receiving a gift,” the mother said.
On March 23, Julie welcomed Ellie, Georgina, Jessica, and Holly, weighing 2 pounds 8 ounces, 2 pounds 7 ounces, 2 pounds, and 1 pound 9 ounces respectively, to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) just minutes apart. was transferred for 8 weeks.
According to the couple, the day they were allowed to bring their siblings home was 'the best day of their lives'.
“It makes us really proud that they are turning 18,” says Julie. She says, “It's not often that we look back at what we've done over the years. It's only when someone points it out that we think, 'Oh my gosh, it's amazing what we did.'”
