The UIAA is seeking a new Vice President for its Mountaineering Committee. Recruitment will be available from May 2024.
The UIAA Mountaineering Committee (MountCom) deals with advice, guidance and advocacy support on mountaineering and mountaineering issues that affect or affect the practices, ethics and styles prevalent in the global mountaineering and mountaineering community. Additionally, it supports engagement with the people with whom we share mountain spaces – including landowners, indigenous peoples and local communities. This includes not only the ethics and style aspects mentioned earlier, but also socio-economic aspects such as cultural values.
UIAA Mountaineering Committee Vice Chairman
(voluntary admission)
Your task:
- As Vice President of the Committee, you will work closely with the President and other members of MountComm.
- Coordinate MountCom output with project management and support from the UIAA office.
- Based on the UIAA Strategic Plan, it helps identify projects relevant to the more than 90 UIAA member associations and the mountaineering and mountaineering community.
- Supports overview, implementation and execution of MountComm projects
- Assists in presenting the project and its results to the UIAA Executive Committee and Management Committee.
- Support for announcing results of UIAA general meeting
- Quarterly reports on project status and MountComm results to the UIAA Management Committee
Your profile:
- Considerable experience as a climber and mountaineer.
- Relevant experience or familiarity with the activities of one or more member associations.
- Knowledge of mountaineering topics, especially style and ethics, to ensure that the interests of climbers and mountaineers around the world are protected.
- Excellent English communication skills to interact with external organizations such as the media
- Demonstrated social and communication skills in a variety of international environments.
- Active team leader and willing to take initiative while delegating tasks.
- Access to regular online meetings and up to two in-person meetings per year, including meeting preparation and follow-up.
