Not-so-fun fact: Most of the nonstick coatings you see on your favorite pots and pans aren't good for your health. Of course, we've come a long way since Teflon. Many brands are exploring new ways to create cookware that is easy to clean, free of chemicals or toxins that leach into your food. What are the downsides? They cannot withstand high heat, lack stickiness and tend to wear out over the long term. Alternative materials such as stainless steel and copper make great cooking companions. If the That means you know how to use and care for them properly. (I'm looking at you, cast iron.)
solution? The new Our Place Titanium Always Pan Pro ($195) combines the best of both nonstick and traditional cookware. The smooth metal pan is completely non-stick and has no coating. As someone who swears by her original nonstick Always Pan ($150), Our Place's big claims immediately caught my attention. Was this a new pot? REllie Doesn’t it stick without coating? And how well did you fare in the kitchen? Here's what happened when I put it to the test: (Spoiler alert: It works.)
About Titanium Always Pan Pro
The Titanium Always Pan Pro looks exactly the same as its ceramic predecessor, with a few key changes. The largest is a sturdy, fully clad three-layer construction, complete with an aluminum core and titanium interior. The star of the show is the “NoCo” (short for “no coating”) titanium surface, which features tiny, microscopic textures pressed into the metal. Combined with superhard titanium, this surface is naturally hydrophobic, allowing foods that would normally stick to easily glide around the pan.
what i love
It's really amazing
In true Our Place fashion, the Titanium Always Pan Pro beautiful. As mentioned earlier, it sports the exact same silhouette as the original Always Pan, but replaces the soft, candy-colored matte ceramic with shiny stainless steel. I think it's Always Pan, but we've all grown up. The all-silver look is a bit more serious than the colorful ceramic counterpart, while the chrome/gold version with gold handles is as elegant as can be.
I have the sturdy Chrome version and I like the way it looks on the counter when I'm not cooking. However, please note that because it is made of stainless steel, fingerprints may remain. There's nothing a quick buff can't handle, but once it's there, it's there.
It's *very* easy to clean.
Like most normal people I know, I hate doing dishes. Anything that can safely go in the dishwasher gets a big gold star, including pots.
Despite my disdain for hand washing, I will say that I don't hate cleaning these. so Rinses off easily. The titanium non-stick interior works wonders at keeping even the stickiest sauces and stubborn food particles off the edges. I recently cooked shakshuka, which is always delicious to cook, and I watched in awe as the tomatoy, eggy, and cheesy mix slid easily around the pan as it boiled. When it was time to clean it, I soaked it in hot water and watched the remaining bits slide off easily. A quick rub with dish detergent made it as clean as new in less than two minutes.
A few things to note: You must use oil when cooking. This is how to activate the anti-stick function inside the titanium “NoCo”. (This is pretty standard across stainless steel and other uncoated cookware.) Our Place recommends “at least 1 teaspoon of high-smoke oil” to get nonstick juices flowing, according to the brand's website. . Otherwise, you'll end up creating a scorched, stuck-on mess.
Another thing is that because it is a metal ~can do Rust forms when it is not dried properly or when exposed to moisture for a long period of time. It hasn't happened to my fan yet, but if it does do, requires thorough cleaning. The brand recommends using boiling water, sprinkling baking soda, and then using steel wool. (For internal use only. Do not use stainless steel as it may scratch!)
erection
The Titanium Always Pan Pro is a durable cooking powerhouse that will make your cooking more appealing. The three-ply structure allows for near-perfect heat retention and dissipation, ensuring that every dish I cook comes out perfectly, with no hot spots or uneven cooking. Aluminum gets hot fast, so there is no need to wait for the surface area to heat up. Best of all, it's compatible with all cooktops, including induction cooktops, and can be used in ovens up to a whopping 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit (or 750 degrees if you use the gold/chrome combo).
I am not a professional chef, but feel Like the real deal every time you use the fan. To me, the words “Yes, Chef” come out of nowhere.
what i don't love
The handle is getting hot.
There are some drawbacks, such as the handle. Hot. I mean hot. The handle got quite hot and I forgot that I burned my fingers last time out of habit. The lid also got very hot. Although the brand's website states that both the handle and lid do not get hot, we recommend using oven gloves. Burnt fingertips are no fun!
heavy
Compared to other pans I've tested, the Titanium Always Pan Pro is on the heavier side. It weighs 3.4 pounds, so it's not as heavy as my cast iron Dutch oven, but it still has some weight to it. My advice when moving hot food from the stove to the table is: Use two hands! (And oven mitts!)
final thoughts
Apologies for my original Always Pan. The new Titanium Always Pan Pro is my new cooking BFF. A kitchen companion that adds style and convenience to your cooking routine, perfect for quick meals as well as long, elaborate dishes. Despite a few minor drawbacks, this product lives up to its big claims and represents a worthwhile investment for any home cook.
