Exclusive: Jeffrey Reddick, the writer who created the long-running novel Final destination The horror franchise is partnering with producer Todd Slater. Bloody Mary: OriginsA creepy new take on a classic urban legend.
Produced by Slater's Convoke Media, Vast Entertainment and DreamPunk Entertainment, the film is based on the New York Times bestseller. Mary: Summon Written by Hilary Monahan. The story focuses on a group of teenage girls who discover an ancient spell that summons the real Bloody Mary. When a terrifying entity pulls one of the girls through a mirror, she is trapped in the past, living out the last days of the real Mary Worth. As time runs out, the others must find a way to save their past friend and defeat the terrifying Bloody Mary in the present.
Emmy Award winner Lane Shefter Bishop (The Venice Murders) will direct and produce through his Vast Entertainment banner. Todd Slater will produce through his Convoke Media imprint alongside DreamPunk Entertainment’s Ryan Martin and Angela Ziegler. Bloody Mary: Origins is the first feature film produced by Reddick’s writing partner, John Stancari, who passed away in 2018 after a long battle with cancer. The film will be dedicated to him. Brandon Evans will executive produce through his and Slater’s Brick Lane Entertainment, and casting is currently underway.
“This script combines Reddick’s signature blend of suspense, humor and horror with an entirely new take on the urban legends my friends and I reenacted as kids,” Slater said in a statement about the project. “Just as ‘Final Destination’ spawned a theatrical franchise enjoyed by generations, our goal with ‘Bloody Mary’ is to create an enduring film with that same impressive longevity.”

Reddick has written and produced more than 40 projects in film and television over a career spanning three decades, most recently writing for the Netflix series.
