Oprah Winfrey is feeling emotional about her weight!
During the first episode of “The Jamie Kern Lima Show” podcast, Oprah broke down in tears as she spoke about the importance of eliminating shame associated with weight.
Oprah had her own revelations about her weight last year. “What I realized through the state of my weight, which I didn't understand as I struggled with my weight for the past 49 years, is that there's something in the brain that allows people like me to metabolize fat differently than other people,” she said. I will always return to a set point where my brain thinks it should support the weight.”
When Oprah did the “Weight Status” episode of “Oprah Daily,” she realized that weight is a medical problem and that her weight was not her fault. She said, “It’s not my fault that I’ve been dieting and trying so hard… It's painful to climb the mountain. I'm starving. It's not my fault… “That moment was 2023.”
Winfrey was left in tears and had to grab a tissue.
Winfrey referenced the scene where she pulled a fat wagon in a 1988 episode of “The Oprah Winfrey Show.” She recalled: “I didn’t eat a thing for five months while I was on Optifast. Three days later I was five pounds heavier. A week later I was 10 pounds heavier… I went from 55 on the show to 5-1/2 or two weeks later I was 5-1/2 pounds heavier. And the shame started all over again.”
Oprah revealed she didn't attend Don Johnson's Christmas party because she thought she was “too fat to go.”
Oprah said she has been the subject of tabloid stories about her weight for 20 years. “Making fun of my weight has been a national sport for 25 years,” she said. “It’s just accepted that you can make fun of me and my weight.”
Years later, Oprah was “done” with all the shame she had been carrying around. “I recently turned 70, and I don’t think I’ll be there for another 10 years,” she said.
These days, Winfrey is taking unspecified medications as a 'management tool' to manage her weight. It’s a tool I use when I feel I’ve passed a certain point.”
