Warren County, Ohio (TCD) — A 51-year-old woman will spend between seven and 10-and-a-half years in prison after causing serious burns to her two-year-old grandchild after soiling his nappy.
According to a May 2 press release from Warren County Prosecutor David Fornshell:The judge sentenced Lashawnda Walters, who previously pleaded guilty to endangering a child and tampering with evidence.
On the morning of March 30, 2023, a 2-year-old girl who lived with Walters soiled her diaper. After her accident, Fornshell said, “Walters assaulted the girl and locked her in her bathtub where the water temperature reached 126 degrees Fahrenheit.”
Walters' granddaughter suffered second- and third-degree burns “over 17 percent of her body, including her feet, calves, thighs, buttocks, and vaginal area.”

The infant had to be transported from Cincinnati Children's Hospital (Liberty Campus) to Ohio Shriners Children's Hospital in Cincinnati for graft surgery to replace skin damaged by hot water, according to the prosecutor's office.
The Crown Prosecution Service said police learned Walters had also deleted video evidence from inside the home to cover up his crimes.
Walters remains incarcerated. Warren County Jail.
“My heart goes out to this little girl, as well as everyone involved in this incident who had to see photos of the horrific injuries Walters caused to that precious child,” Fornshell said.
