With NPR Puzzle Master new york times Puzzle editor Will Shortz announced Sunday that he is recovering from a stroke.
Shortz, who hosts NPR's Sunday Puzzle, shared a health update in a brief recorded message that aired at the end of the show. This was in part to explain his recent absence from the show.
“Hi, my name is Will Shorts. Sorry for being out the past few weeks. I had a stroke on February 4th and have been in rehab since, but I'm making progress. I'm looking forward to coming back. New puzzles coming soon. “He said.
As of February 11, Shortz's role has been filled on an interim basis by Chief Puzzle Officer Greg Pliska. Riddle Podcast with AJ Jacobs and NPR's former puzzle expert Ask someone else.

Shortz were a staple of Sunday Puzzle. from weekend edition sunday It started in 1987. Each week, Shortz gives one contestant an on-air quiz, and listeners at home play along. He rarely misses a week.
The show recently visited Shortz at his home in Pleasantville, New York, where he talked about his passion for ping pong, his early interest in puzzles and his love life.
On sunday, weekend version Host Ayesha Lascoe We wish Shortz a speedy recovery.
“We are here weekend version, we love Will and we know everyone at home does too. “And we are rooting for him and hopeful that he will get better soon.”
Pliska added that he looks forward to Shortz returning to the show.
“I know I speak on behalf of the entire puzzle community to wish Will the best of luck. He has been a good friend of mine for many years and as much as I love playing puzzles with Ayesha on air, I look forward to seeing Will the best of luck on Sunday morning. “Put on your pajamas and come back home with you and Will,” he said.
