‘Super-ATMs’ are to be rolled out across the UK to allow users to deposit at multiple banks.
The first machine is operating in Atherstone, Warwickshire, and additional ATMs will also be trialled, according to Cash Access UK, an organization set up to bridge the gap in access to cash.
This machine allows you to use cash services such as withdrawals and balance inquiries. Free cash deposits will also be available to Bank of Scotland, Barclays, Halifax, Lloyds, NatWest, Royal Bank of Scotland and Ulster Bank customers.
More banks are expected to be added soon, according to Cash Access UK, a not-for-profit company owned and funded by major banks.
The machines are connected to the Link ATM network and have been set up in collaboration with ATM providers NCR Atleos and NoteMachine.
The deposit machine is one of the solutions being trialled by Cash Access UK to improve deposit services.
Gareth Oakley, CEO of Cash Access UK, said: “Access to deposit ATMs is essential for cash-dependent UK consumers who struggle to access basic banking services, and it is just as important for businesses that accept cash to be able to store it in the bank.” .

Martin McTague, National Chairman of the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), said: “The decline of bank branch networks has left many people without vital services. In particular, small business owners lacked the ability to securely deposit same-day earnings without having to close their businesses. Traveling early or for several miles.
“The ability to deposit at super ATMs operating across multiple banks is an important innovation and, together with the rapid rollout of banking hubs and maintenance of post office counters, can make a real difference.”
This comes as the number of cash withdrawals from Nationwide Building Society's ATM network has increased for the second consecutive year after more than a decade of declines.
About 31.36 million cash withdrawals were made across its network of more than 1,200 ATMs last year, up from 30.21 million in 2022, according to Nationwide.
According to data from the association, 2022 marked the second consecutive annual increase in cash withdrawals, including the first increase in 13 years.
Prior to 2022, cash withdrawals from Nationwide ATMs will decline. Withdrawals fell sharply at the start of the coronavirus pandemic.
