Michael Cohen's attorney, Lanny Davis, said there was no doubt that Trump would face prison if convicted in Manhattan.
Could Trump face jail time if convicted in Manhattan?
When asked by MSNBC's Jen Psaki whether Trump would go to jail if convicted, Davis said he probably would because he cannot forgive himself. Let me repeat this. I hope that doesn't happen if he gets elected president. He will forgive himself, he said, and he will probably try. But he cannot be pardoned on criminal conviction by a state criminal jury. He should go to jail. I don't like putting him in jail. I prefer less house arrest than jail time because he is a former president. But there is no doubt that he will be placed under house arrest or in prison. If he was found guilty.”

For years, people have been saying Trump should go to jail or be imprisoned. Starting tomorrow, Trump's imprisonment may become a reality.
Lanny Davis was probably correct. Given Trump's situation as a nearly 80-year-old former president, it's likely he will be sentenced to some form of house arrest if convicted.
It will be very interesting to see how Trump's imprisonment will affect the 2024 presidential campaign. If Trump were under house arrest, would he campaign via Zoom calls? Trump not being able to physically campaign would be a huge blow to the Republican Party.
Republicans will get what they asked for by nominating a candidate facing 91 felony charges for president.
The Manhattan trial will be the closest Donald Trump has come to being convicted and imprisoned yet.
