Melania Trump, who rarely campaigned during her husband's presidential campaign, has re-engaged in Republican fundraising.
The former first lady is scheduled to hold her first major political event of the year, a fundraiser for Log Republicans, on April 20 at her Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida, where she and former President Donald Trump live. According to an invitation from POLITICO.
Melania Trump has long had a close relationship with the Log Cabin Republicans, which describe themselves as “America’s largest Republican organization dedicated to representing LGBT conservatives and allies.” In 2021, she received the award as a special guest at a dinner hosted by the organization at Mar-a-Lago. The former president spoke in person at an event organized by the organization at the club in 2022.
The April event is the kickoff to the organization's “Road to Victory” program targeting voters in swing states.
A Trump spokeswoman did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Last month, when asked by a reporter when she would return to the campaign trail, Melania Trump said, “Stay tuned.” The former first lady made these remarks while attending a memorial service for a slain New York City police officer with her husband.
The event's host committee included Republican donors Saul Fox, Amanda Schumacher, Bill White, Brian Eure, and Richard Grenell, Trump's ambassador to Germany and former acting director of national intelligence. Also included are Elizabeth Ailes, a former NBC News executive and the widow of the late Fox News CEO Roger Ailes, and Deborah Magowan, the widow of the late San Francisco Giants owner Peter Magowan.
