GWINNETT COUNTY, GA (TCD) — A 57-year-old reckless driver is behind bars after allegedly beating a teenager unconscious and threatening to rape his 15-year-old sister.
According to a press release from Gwinnett County police:, on Wednesday, February 28, officers responded to the area of Buford Dam and Old Shadburn Ferry Roads in reference to a possible assault. The 18-year-old victim told police she was driving with her 15-year-old sister in the passenger seat of the car when she “exchanged hand gestures” with another driver, Duane Sudderth.
Sudderth reportedly began driving behind the victim in a blue pickup truck and attempted to run him off the road.
According to police, the victim said that when Sudderth parked behind him, he drove into his private driveway, got out of his truck and “began punching him repeatedly in the face through the window.”
Sudderth also reportedly threatened to sexually assault the victim's “girlfriend,” who was actually his sister.
According to the victim, Sudderth continued to beat him as he got out of the car. He eventually lost consciousness and when he woke up he called law enforcement.
With the help of the Flock Safety camera system, police determined that Sudderth was the owner of the blue pickup truck. Police went to his home on Sunday, March 3 and arrested him on charges of aggravated battery, two counts of aggravated assault, terroristic threats, first-degree cruelty to a child, third-degree child abuse, vehicular tampering, and aggressive driving. Police said he is being held without bail.
