TRENTON, NJ (TCD) — A homeless man was arrested in New Jersey over the weekend after a “murderous rampage” in Pennsylvania that left three people dead, including his teenage sister.
According to the Bucks County District Attorney's Office, at 8:52 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, Falls Township police responded to a report of shots fired at an apartment on Viewpoint Lane in Levittown, Pennsylvania. Police say 26-year-old Andre Gordon carjacked someone in Trenton, New Jersey, then drove to a home on Viewpoint Lane and killed his 51-year-old stepmother, Karen Gordon, and a 13-year-old. He revealed that he shot and killed his younger sister, Kera Gordon.
It is reported that three other people were inside the house at the time of the shooting and were hiding safely.
Minutes later, at 9:01 a.m., Gordon reportedly drove to a second residence and shot Taylor Daniel, the mother of his two children. The district attorney's office said there were four people at the scene of the incident and that Gordon “exploded” a woman with the assault rifle he used in the shooting. She was injured and taken to a local hospital.
NJ.com reports Falls Township Police Chief Nelson Whitney said Gordon reportedly used an “AR-15-style assault rifle” in the shooting.
Gordon fled the scene and reportedly carjacked a man at gunpoint at 9:15 a.m. Falls Township police implemented the shelter-in-place order and lifted it three hours later. Police located the stolen vehicle in Trenton, New Jersey, around 11:38 a.m.
Police learned that Gordon was holding people hostage in a house in Trenton. He was arrested about five blocks away a few hours later and “altered his appearance, including cutting his hair, prior to his arrest to conceal his identity.”
The New Jersey Attorney General's Office said in a statement that Gordon was charged with first-degree carjacking, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, second-degree unlawful possession of an assault firearm and third-degree unlawful possession of a weapon. These include possession of a firearm without a serial number, degree 3 receiving stolen property, degree 4 unlawful possession of a large capacity magazine, and degree 4 possession of hollow point ammunition.
In Pennsylvania, Gordon faces 32 charges, including three counts of first-degree murder, three counts of second-degree murder, burglary, aggravated assault, auto burglary, unlawful restraint, discharging a firearm into an occupied building and unlawful larceny. Taking, possession of criminal tools, making terroristic threats, simple assault, and recklessly endangering another person.
He is expected to be extradited to Pennsylvania.
Falls Township and Trenton are about seven miles from each other.
