The family photo may have helped allay concerns and questions about Kate, Princess of Wales, but viewers pointed out irregularities in the image, sparking a barrage of new questions. And now the princess has admitted that the photo she released last Sunday was doctored.
“Like many amateur photographers, I sometimes try editing.” The princess said: said on social media Monday.. He added, “I wanted to apologize for the confusion caused by the family photo shared yesterday.”
The admission of the doctored photo came after several news agencies withdrew it. For example, the Associated Press noted “the strange coincidence of Princess Charlotte's left hand with the sleeve of her sweater” and said, “Upon closer examination, the source appears to have doctored the image.”
A photo released on Mother's Day in the UK shows Kate (Princess Catherine) sitting on a chair and hugging her children, Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis, and Prince George. In her corresponding post, Kate revealed that the person who took the photo of her was her husband, Prince William.
“Thank you for your warm wishes and continued support over the past two months,” Kate wrote.
The seemingly cheerful image seemed to suggest the princess was healthy and happy after virtually disappearing from public appearances in late December. Kensington Palace said of Kate, 42, that she spent nearly two weeks in hospital following successful abdominal surgery in January, although she did not reveal any details.
However, as the rumors grew, it led to a complete withdrawal. In its discussion of the photo, the AP pointed out that photography standards prohibit substantial editing of the image and removal of the “red-eye” effect.
