Meghan Markle has reportedly urged Prince Harry to reconnect with his brother amid the royal family's ongoing health concerns.
Royal writer Tom Quinn said the Duke of Sussex still had “vague hopes” that he and Meghan would be forgiven by their estranged family and given a “small role” four years after stepping down.
The claims come amid a series of health issues among the family, including several senior royals stepping down from public life.
The Princess of Wales released a touching video message on Friday announcing that she had begun a course of preventive chemotherapy.
The King has also been diagnosed with cancer and has stepped back from public affairs while receiving treatment. Most of his duties were undertaken by Camilla, who attended the annual Holy Thursday service at Worcester Cathedral today.
Charles will not attend the service, but a personal Easter message has been broadcast in his absence, marking the Princess of Wales' first public statement since she revealed to the world her cancer diagnosis.
King Charles has stressed the importance of kindness by skipping pre-Easter services while undergoing treatment for cancer.
King Charles III emphasized the importance of friendship and caring in a recorded message delivered Thursday at a traditional pre-Easter church service, which he skipped as he continued treatment for cancer.
Charles said Jesus set “an example of how we should serve and care for one another” and how as a nation we “need and benefit greatly from those who extend their hand of friendship to us, especially in times of need.” He said he showed it to me.
Dating back 600 years, this service commemorates the Last Supper, where Jesus washed the feet of his disciples in an act of service and humility.
Monarchs no longer wash the feet of the poor as they did in the Middle Ages. Instead, Queen Camilla, who represented her husband at her wedding, presented 75 women and 75 men, depending on her royal age, with purses containing special coins known as wads of money.
“This service reminds us of the pledge we made at the beginning of our coronation to follow Christ’s example: to ‘serve, not be served,’” Charles said in his message. “I have always tried to do it with all my heart and continue to do it.”
The message did not directly address the royal's health concerns, but was the king's first public comments since revealing his daughter-in-law was undergoing chemotherapy.

Royal author Tom Quinn said the Duke of Sussex still had “vague hopes” that four years after he and Meghan would step down, he would be forgiven by his estranged family and offered a “small role”.
“Harry is under pressure to maintain some relationship with his family for the sake of the couple’s new business,” he said. Harry still holds out a vague hope that he will be forgiven and given a small role to play somewhere.

Pastor King Delivers Personal Easter Message
The King personally addressed the nation today in a pre-recorded Easter message broadcast during the annual Holy Thursday service.
Charles' audio address was broadcast to the faithful at Worcester Cathedral in his absence due to the monarch's ongoing cancer treatment.
This did not directly refer to the King and Princess of Wales' treatment for an undisclosed type of cancer, but did highlight people “reaching out a hand of friendship”. This is likely to be interpreted as the country's response to the monarchy's double health scare.
Charles reaffirmed his coronation vows in his speech. “The service here at Worcester Cathedral reminds me of the pledge I took at the start of my coronation: to follow Christ’s example: ‘to serve, not to be served’.
“I have always tried to do it with all my heart and continue to do it.”

John Inge, Lord High Almoner of Worcester, who will accompany the Queen, told BBC Radio Hereford and Worcester: I say – ‘A new commandment I give you, that you love one another, just as I have loved you.’
“This is an act of service and the monarch is here to honor those who have provided Christian service to their church and community over many years.”
