Tragedy struck Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard.
In a joint post shared on Instagram on April 13, the two revealed the news of the stillbirth of their daughter Isla Marie Dillard after four months of pregnancy.
There have been rumors for weeks that Jill is expecting.
However, she and her husband did not confirm the news until they made the heartbreaking announcement on social media.
“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the stillbirth of our beautiful daughter, Isla Marie Dillard,” the former TLC celebrities wrote this weekend.
“Jill was four months pregnant (due in August) when we found out our baby had died in utero.
“From the moment we found out we were pregnant, we wanted to meet our baby.
“Isla was loved from the start and her three siblings were so excited to introduce her to their world.”
As you can see above, the uploaded photo shows Jill and Derek looking down at a pink crocheted blanket.
In the message, they thanked their followers for their prayers and noted that they were still grieving and healing from “the loss of our little Isla Marie.”
This is, sadly, a process that will likely last forever.
Parents never get over the grief of losing their child.
The former reality star are parents to three sons: Israel, 9, Samuel, 6, and Frederick, 1.
Duggar suffered a miscarriage with her son River Bliss in 2021.
“It’s been a year ago today since we said goodbye to our baby River Bliss,” Jill wrote in honor of this terrible situation.
“Our baby will not live with us on this earth, but will live with us forever before the Lord, the source of the river of life!”
Following her recent passing, friends, family and loved ones sent condolences and messages of support to the couple through Instagram comments.
“I love you so much, sister. Please continue to support all of you in prayer. We will miss you sweet little Isla,” Jinger Duggar wrote, for example.
Added cousin Amy Duggar King.
“Isla Marie is such a beautiful name and meaning. I pray continuously. God has a plan through every heartbreak. You have been in my heart and in our prayers and you always will be. We love you so much.”
Jill became very estranged from her parents and a small group of siblings after publishing a book delving into her controversial and deeply conservative upbringing.
Duggar and Dillard also spoke with Amazon last year for a documentary that would further reveal numerous family/religious secrets.
“Yes, we were taken advantage of,” Jill said in the series, revealing that while their father received millions from the family's reality show and spin-offs, his children received nothing.
At the time, she added, “I have never received a salary in seven and a half years of my adult life.”
But through it all, Jill and Derrick have continued to rely on each other.
Speaking with TODAY.com following the release of Duggar's memoir in September 2023, the husband and wife acknowledged each other as a source of support during difficult times.
“I couldn’t have done much of what we’ve accomplished over the past five-plus years without her. “It’s hard for her to be a full-time mom with three kids under the age of eight,” Derek said at the time.
“She does that and still makes time for our dates. She is also basically a lawyer. Because she supported me through law school.”
We offer our heartfelt condolences to Jill Duggar and Derrick Dillard for their unimaginable loss.
