Donald Trump may have ignored and downplayed the dangers of a deadly and violent pathogen in order to boost America's financial sector, but anti-vaccination independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. wants the virus to spread across the country.
And with measles advocacy groups now so low on cash, Kennedy had no choice but to tap. youNicole with a Rich Opinion His running mate is Shanahan, a woman who appears to share many of his anti-vaccine views. Unfortunately for Kennedy, and fortunately for anyone who wants the government to mail them N95 masks instead of smallpox blankets during the next pandemic, her opinions are so out of sync with mainstream thought (as in the 21st century) that she is a member of his party. The attraction to tickets regardless of how much cash you can bring.
There's a reason why Republicans – dishonestly – rushed to defend in vitro fertilization treatments after the Alabama Supreme Court ruled that frozen embryos possess human inalienable rights to life, liberty, and ultimate thawing. That's because this particular form of murder remains popular among voters.
In fact, according to a recent POLITICO investigation, Shanahan was quoted as saying that IVF:“It’s one of the biggest lies being told about women’s health today.”
oh.
As a candidate, her criticism of IVF gained importance after the Alabama Supreme Court's ruling that embryos are children caused clinics in the state to briefly cease operations. Republicans and Democrats, including President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump, are rushing to defend the widely popular procedure.
The 38-year-old's opposition to IVF and skepticism toward the fertility industry have made her an outlier in the presidential field. But she did not call for a ban on IVF procedures.
Well, at least she didn't call for an outright ban. great. She is clearly hostile to a procedure widely used and supported by 86% of Americans. That's like running for office after saying dogs are nothing more than bug-soiled, torn up sofas, and disease vectors. But for now, you can have your dog.
But Shananan isn't opposed to women having babies. In fact, she probably wanted to preserve her fertility long enough for American women to have prenatal care covered by Medicare.
At the same time, she has been an active advocate and financial supporter of non-traditional research that has the potential to be helpful. Women raising children into their 50s Explore free interventions to help women become pregnant, such as sunlight exposure.
“I’m not sure there’s been a thorough study of mitochondrial respiration on the effects of two hours of morning sunlight on reproductive health. I want to fund something like that,” Shanahan said. She is a 2023 panelist for the National Academy of Medicine, a group she previously said had donated $100 million. The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine recognize Bia-Echo's [Shanahan’s foundation] The donation amount was $150,000.
Yes, science!
Forget the tried-and-true method that has already helped hundreds of thousands of couples conceive. I need to see if tanning works. Tucker Carlson fans are probably tired of the testicle ramp by now. Yes? And the strange glow they give off has made “The Turner Diaries” really hard to read anyway, so it's basically useless now. So every childless couple should check out eBay. Who knows? They might get lucky.
Of course, after being contacted by POLITICO, the RFK Jr.-Shanahan campaign was quick to do damage control. Shanahan issued a statement saying he was attempting to burnish the goodwill of pro-aged parents.
“I have been funding science for the past five years to understand environmental factors that affect women’s reproductive health because they have been largely ignored,” she said. “IVF is a very expensive for-profit business and many of these clinics are owned by private equity firms that do not invest in women’s primary health. “What I care about is informed consent and making sure companies can’t take advantage of us.”
great. confident. Well said, Nicole. But you said this in an interview with the Australian Financial Review:
“It has become abundantly clear that there is not enough science behind what we are saying and selling to women. … “This is one of the biggest lies told about women’s health today.”
And in a personal essay published in People magazine, he said:
“I believe IVF is marketed irresponsibly, and my experience with natural childbirth has led me to understand that the fertility industry is deeply flawed.”
And this is from an interview with the Marin Independent News:
“personally, I think it's crazy that my reproductive organs were considered geriatric long before my other organs started to show some decline. “I think it’s even crazier that we’ve admitted this story to half of humanity.”
The webinar on Reproductive Lifespan features:
“I try to imagine where we would be if we had all the money invested in IVF, all the money invested in IVF marketing, all the government money invested in IVF subsidies. “If just 10% of that was used for reproductive longevity research and basic research, we would be where we are today.”
Helping women conceive well into their 50s is a good thing. But why should this be a sacrifice for couples looking to start or expand their family at any age using IVF?
Considering RFK Jr. spouts outrageous nonsense on the air regularly, it's not a good sign that his running mate appears to be prioritizing sunlight over scientifically proven methods of getting pregnant. However, this means that the upcoming election will be divided between those who support the scientific method and consensus (e.g. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris) and those who favor science (Kennedy, Shanahan, Trump and their later appointed sycophant running mates).
Meanwhile, considering that Democrat Marilyn Rand was able to win by 25 points in a Republican-controlled district in Alabama on an entirely pro-choice, pro-IVF message, it's clear that voters are starting to get going. I'm getting tired of the medieval nonsense going on right and down the right, or whatever the RFK Jr.-Shanahan ticket calls themselves.
Kennedy may have a Democratic name, but in too many ways he seems to have a MAGA brain. And his running mate seems ready to do little to help restore his reputation.
That is undoubtedly good news for a country that has suffered far more vicious nonsense than it has had to endure.
