New England is made up of six states: Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and my home state, Massachusetts. Each state individually has a lot to offer and is worth a visit. I could spend hours detailing why you should visit each state and what to do, some even breaking it down by city. But let's talk more broadly. If you're looking for a quick weekend getaway to enjoy all that quintessential New England has to offer, here are a few things to consider.
It's still early, but in just a few weeks, New England's leaves will turn colorful shades of orange, yellow, red, brown and everything in between. Each state has its own routes, landscapes, mountains and valleys to enjoy nature. It's easy to take a day trip from stopping to peek at the leaves along the way to enjoy the endless cute villages and all they have to offer.
Apple picking:
If there's one activity New England families never miss in the fall, it's apple picking! There are so many farms to choose from and everyone has their favorite. Some are interested in the apples themselves, some are interested in the activities (hay rides! mazes! petting zoos!), and some are interested in apple cider donuts and adult beverages. Either way, time spent apple picking is always fun and a lot of fun in New England!
Eat, drink and be merry:
New England is filled with some of the best restaurants imaginable, with chefs earning endless praise and boasting creative kitchens. Additionally, many chefs like to focus on seasonal foods when cooking. Now is the perfect time to enjoy creamy pumpkin soup, roasted chicken packed with fall flavors, and the perfect apple dessert. If you love to eat, here is a restaurant that will suit you and your taste buds.
