Every winter, from mid-November through the spring thaw, Platte Clove Road is closed to vehicle traffic. A steel gate is locked in place to prevent climbing the steep, winding path.
Platte Clove Road will be closed to traffic from November 15 to April 15, or until weather permits and all seasonal repairs are completed. (If you know the way, you will know why.)

As of 5/11/23, Platte Clove is open for business, according to Hunter Town Supervisor Sean Mahoney.As of 11/21/23, the east side of Platte Clove Road is closed Tuesday morning traffic jam- As of 4/26/24, the Town of Hunter has an accurate estimate of when the road will reopen in 2024. They are currently undergoing major renovations. The anticipated reopening date is mid to late May.
