MARION, Iowa (TCD) — A 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of beating three people to death with a metal pipe and seriously injuring four others.
Wednesday evening, June 5th, Linn County Sheriff's Office deputies responded. A call about multiple people injured at an outbuilding on East Otter Road. When deputies and other emergency responders arrived, they found four adults with “serious” injuries. Three people were confirmed dead at the scene. A fourth victim was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Deputies arrested Luke Truesdell. They then charged him with one count of attempted murder and three counts of first-degree murder. The sheriff's office said in an update that the three people killed were Lomondus Cooper, 44, Keona Ryan, 26, and Amanda Parker, 33. 34-year-old Brent Brown survived the attack and remains in critical condition.
All four victims suffered blunt force trauma caused by metal pipes. Potential motives included “the potential for the crime to be made into a movie,” according to the sheriff's office.
Report from the Cedar Rapids Gazette Brown's father owns the property where the victim was found. His father also said Brown no longer had brain activity.
