Apple released iOS 17.4 on Tuesday, and the update brings new features and bug fixes to the iPhone, including new emojis for everyone and the ability for people in the EU to download other app stores. But you can also have more control over your iPhone's security with more device theft protection settings.

Stolen Device Protection was introduced in iOS 17.3 and, according to CNET's David Lumb, applies an extra layer of security to some sensitive data. If you're in an unfamiliar place, like your home, this feature requires you to enter your biometric information once, wait an hour, and then enter your information a second time before you can change your Apple ID password or access and change some of your information. Turn off stolen device protection.
However, if you frequent coffee shops or live in an apartment building, your data could be at risk even if you lose your iPhone in one of these places. iPhone may recognize these locations as friendly locations, allowing others to bypass this security feature. But with iOS 17.4, you can set your iPhone to require a one-hour security delay at all times, no matter where you are.
Here's how to always turn on Stolen Device Protection:
How to Always Require a 1-Hour Security Delay
One. open setting
2. water tap Face ID and Passcode
three. Scroll down and tap. Protect your stolen device
4. Tap the toggle next to it. Protect your stolen device If not activated yet. If it's already enabled, go to the next step.
5. water tap always From the need for security delays
Now, whenever you or someone else tries to access or change certain settings on your iPhone, whether you're in a familiar place like your home or not, your device will require a one-hour security delay.
However, stolen device protection only protects a small number of settings, so you'll need to take steps to protect your other information. For example, Apple says that you can still use your iPhone's passcode when making purchases with Apple Pay, so stolen device protection doesn't completely protect your finances.
Apple always recommends that everyone turn on stolen device protection, even if a one-hour security delay isn't required.
