'I often think about the profound consequences of failure here'
Hunter Biden was a scandal as he continued to donate to Joe Biden.
Joe Biden once accepted millions of dollars from the Ukrainian gas company Burisma when he handled the U.S.-Ukraine police force for Barack Obama. And a scandal broke out over whether the prosecutor who was investigating the company was fired at the direction of Joe Biden.
Then there are other payments that have come to the family from real enemies of the United States from abroad through channels run by Hunter Biden.
There was a sordid drug and alcohol-fuelled incident in which Hunter Biden emerged from an abandoned laptop computer at a repair shop.
There were millions of dollars in unpaid taxes. Although he claimed on federal gun purchase forms that he was not addicted at the time of purchase, there was an episode he later wrote about in the book in which he became addicted.
Now, Hunter Biden has humbly claimed in an interview that “the future of democracy” depends on his…sobriety!
The New Yort Post outlines his outrageous claims.
“Well, at least he’s humble.” The report starts. “Hunter Biden, the first son, said in a rare interview published Monday that ‘it’s important for me to keep myself clean because there’s something much bigger than myself at stake.’”
“We are fighting for the future of democracy,” he told Axios.
Democrats have often argued that 'democracy' is at stake in the 2024 presidential race, which will likely pit Joe Biden against President Donald Trump. Their argument, then, is that a Trump victory would be the “end” of democracy. And Hunter Biden seems to believe that more of his ugly behavior will reflect poorly on Joe Biden.
But so far in his presidency, Biden has issued omnipotent executive orders that effectively change the law by changing definitions of words and altering rules and regulations without congressional approval. He claimed that he had “forgiven” billions of dollars in student loans after the Supreme Court ruled he could not do so, effectively moving them from the shoulders of borrowers to the shoulders of taxpayers.
Hunter Biden's claims come as the Supreme Court considers whether the Biden administration's collusion with social media companies to restrict opinions and speech about the 2020 election, COVID-19, vaccinations and more was legal or unconstitutional. This is what came out.
Hunter Biden said, “You have to believe that you are worth working for. Otherwise he will never get sober. But I often think about the profound consequences of failure here.”
“Perhaps this is the ultimate test for recovering addicts,” Hunter Biden continued. I have always been in awe of people who have maintained their innocence and coolheadedness despite the tragedies and obstacles faced by so few. They are my heroes and inspiration.”
The White House has repeatedly excused Hunter Biden's actions as the result of addiction and sought to generate sympathy, not condemnation, for his clearly illegal actions.
The younger Biden himself used his addiction as a defense against federal charges and the House impeachment inquiry into his father.
He initially refused to comply with a House subpoena to testify on these matters, but later recanted and promised to appear before the House in a recorded interview.
Hunter Biden said he was “irresponsible with my finances” while drunk.
