Unlike men, chest pain, pressure, or discomfort is not always the most serious or noticeable heart attack symptom in women. That's why women need to understand their unique symptoms while working to reduce their risk of heart disease, according to researchers at the Mayo Clinic. Sweating, nausea, dizziness and unusual fatigue may not sound like typical heart attack symptoms, but they are common in women and may occur more often when resting or falling asleep, according to the study. When women experience heart attack symptoms, these signs are often misinterpreted. Women's symptoms are often vague, including shortness of breath, nausea/vomiting, and back or jaw pain. Some women experience dizziness, lightheadedness, pain under the chest or upper abdomen, and extreme fatigue.
