On Thursday, Helen Mirren accepted the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 37th annual American Cinematheque Awards.
“Extra’s” Terri Seymour spoke with Helen to accept the honor. Helen also mentioned a cut scene from the blockbuster movie “Barbie.”
She called her American Cinematheque award “a great honor” and added, “It’s amazing to have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. “It’s fantastic to be accepted into an industry as complex, historic and culturally important as the American film industry.”
“We're really good friends and I like Olivia a lot,” Mirren said of the hilarious 'Barbie' argument with Olivia Colman that didn't make the final cut. “The ‘Bobby’ scene we shot was a fun scene, but it probably should have been cut.”
In addition to being crazy about Olivia, Helen was crazy about her “1923” co-star Harrison Ford. She previously confessed she was “excited” to get into bed with him for this project, after which she called him “the most gracious gentleman.”
Although Helen was honored for her acting contributions, she was unable to choose a favorite role.
She explained, “It’s a bit like when a mother asks, ‘Who is your favorite child?’ There’s no such thing as a favorite. They’re all very special.”
Mirren added of his role: “It all happened at different times in my life. Some of them were more difficult than others… “That is my whole life.”
Helen also shared her thoughts on receiving the award, saying she was embarrassed by her EGOT status. She said, “I have to win a Grammy somehow…” [record] maybe.”
