analyze: Political scientists like this president, but some universities don't.
The “greatest” presidents are sometimes the most canceled on college campuses.
Two political scientists recently released their latest presidential rankings, based on a survey of “current and recent presidents and members of the executive politics section” of the American Political Science Association.
Professor Brandon Rottinghaus of the University of Houston and Justin Vaughn of Coastal Carolina University conducted the survey. Both men have stated several times that President Joe Biden saved the United States from President Donald Trump by upholding America's “norms.”
Among the top choices are Presidents Abe Lincoln, George Washington, and Thomas Jefferson, representing a contrast between political scientists and campus activists.
Jefferson received the most hate on college campuses, as previously reported. college fix.
But the statue of Washington George Washington University I found his throat cut. Lincoln has withstood cancellation attempts, including from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Cornell University.
Political scientists also rated President Barack Obama and Biden highly.
They ranked President Obama seventh overall, following President Harry Truman. Biden, who is still serving his first term, ranks as the 13th greatest president in history, ahead of Ronald Reagan, Calvin Coolidge and James Monroe. But he was also one of the “hardest to rate,” according to the survey.
Both conservative and liberal political scientists are united in their disdain for President Trump.
He ranked last in the overall survey and 41st among Republican survey respondents. Democrats, Independents/Others, Libertarians, and Moderates all ranked him last. Conservatives ranked him 43rd in the list, behind Presidents Franklin Pierce and James Buchanan.
President Franklin Roosevelt, who imprisoned Japanese Americans and implemented economic control, received an overall high rating of 'greatness'.
Trump came out on top as the most polarizing, followed by Andrew Jackson, Obama, Reagan and Richard Nixon.
Biden has been praised for returning the country to “normal,” Rottinghaus, a political scientist at the University of Houston, said in a press release.
“Scholars often emphasize the stability of norms when assessing the greatness of a president,” Rottinghaus said. “After the tumultuous Trump administration, Joe Biden has responded very positively to surveys.”

He and Vaughn made similar points. Los Angeles Times Opinion piece from yesterday.
“Nevertheless, Trump maintains the position he held six years ago, following historically disastrous chief executives such as James Buchanan and Andrew Johnson,” they wrote. “In that and other respects, Trump’s sharp departures from political, institutional, and legal norms have influenced informed assessments of not only him but Biden and several other presidents.”
After mentioning Hunter Biden's “family scandal,” both professors reiterate how they believe the current president saved the country from Trump.
“Biden’s most important achievement may be that he has rescued the presidency from Trump, resumed a more traditional style of presidential leadership, and is preparing to defend the presidency from his predecessor’s hands this fall.”
Other professors have repeatedly warned that “democracy” could be in jeopardy if Trump is re-elected. Fixes.
The professors have finished their classes. LA Times This is another reminder of how “norms” are at stake.
“Americans voting for the next president are in the historically rare position of knowing how both candidates performed in the position,” they wrote. “It remains to be seen whether they will consider each president’s commitment to the norms of presidential leadership and evaluate them as differently as our experts do.”
