Professional golfer Grayson Murray died Saturday, PGA officials said. The two-time PGA Tour winner was 30 years old.
“We were shocked and heartbroken to share the news that PGA Tour player Grayson Murray passed away this morning,” PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan said in a statement. “The PGA Tour is about family. When you lose a family member, you are never the same. We mourn Grayson and pray for the comfort of his loved ones.”
Murray – referring to illness – withdrew on friday CBS Sports reported this during the second round of the 2024 Charles Schwab Challenge in Fort Worth.
PGA officials said they will have grief counselors at all venues this week and will release more information as it becomes available.
When news of Murray's death became known, condolences began pouring in.
Golfer Bubba Watson said: “I am very saddened to hear of the death of Grayson Murray today.” X (formerly Twitter) On sunday. “Life is so fragile… I held you at the Masters and told you how proud I was of you. I am grateful to have known you. My deepest condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time. He will be missed. .”
Murray won his second PGA Tour title this year at the Sony Open in Hawaii. He played golf at Wake Forest University, East Carolina University, and Arizona State University before turning his professional career. He won his first title at the Barbasol Championship in 2017 when he was 23 years old.
