The dialog below just started popping up when I opened a web link in another app. As you can see, I've set Choosy as my default browser, and what's triggering this dialog is that I think I should use Firefox instead.
Choosy appears as a browser on macOS, but it’s actually an app, not a browser. It’s an app that sits behind your default browser and opens other browsers based on configurable rules (e.g. opening a Google Meet call in Chrome).
Normally I would think this is caused by Firefox (since it is not set as default), but I have reason to believe it is caused by macOS. I have had the same issue before on another laptop, but the suggestion was to set Chrome as default browser. No matter how I configured Chrome not to be the default browser, the dialog box keeps popping up. Up until now I thought Chrome was being overly enthusiastic about wanting to be my default browser.
I don't believe Firefox would do the same thing, and I theorize that macOS must have noticed that I always use Firefox, even though I have Choosy set as my default browser. Has anyone seen this conversation before and stopped it from popping up? I want to keep Choosey as my default browser.
The text reads:
Would you like to change your default web browser to “Firefox” or continue using “Choosy”?
When you click a link in an email message, document, or other app, it opens your default web browser.
