A snowstorm hit Tuesday's special election for New York's House of Representatives, potentially compromising voting in the race to replace expelled former Rep. George Santos.
The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for New York City and Long Island on Monday. As a result, 4 to 10 inches of snow is expected to cause traffic congestion and lower Election Day voter turnout. Schools in the city have already announced they will close, and many school districts in Nassau County are expected to follow suit.
Forecasters have had difficulty determining details of the storm in recent days. Before Monday, the heaviest snowfall was expected to fall across central New England. Now the area has moved south toward the Tri-State area, but details are still fluid.
