A video of a Florida police officer's dog going berserk and jumping off the 528 Causeway Bridge, 75 feet above the river, sending chills to the officer's handler, has gone viral on social media.
Video shows Deputy Lauren Donaldson and K-9 Zeppelin walking to their car after completing a reported felony arrest on the bridge.
According to Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey, the dog named Zeppelin attempted to climb the guardrail and jump.
Fortunately, Donaldson grabbed the dog by the leash, kept it from falling off the bridge, and pulled it up the 121-mile-long Indian River.
After the incident, the deputy minister was shocked when he was heard saying to himself, “No, no!” When she picked a Belgian Malinois.
“Lauren’s rescue of her beloved partner is even more amazing when you consider that Zeppelin, a Belgian Malinois, weighs approximately 75 pounds and Lauren weighs 122 pounds when wet and holding a bowling ball,” the sheriff wrote on Facebook. wrote. “There is no doubt that without Lauren’s quick action, the Zeppelin would have likely fallen approximately 75 feet into the Indian River to its death,” the sheriff wrote in the post.
Despite suffering from chills, he said he was thankful the dog was safe.
Donaldson and her K-9 partner have twice won the “hardest K-9 division of the Space Coast K-9 competition,” according to Sheriff Ivey.
