After President Biden’s embarrassing and humiliating performance in the presidential debates, some Democrats are now openly calling for him to drop out of the 2020 race.
Or back off. Or just walk away, somewhere else, somewhere away from the cameras.
What we're seeing is major history, folks. Things we haven't seen since 1968.
Democrats join calls for Biden to resign
On the heels of Biden's dismal debate performance, something incredible happened.
The CNN panel – CNN! – of all media outlets started with a chorus that Biden needs to be replaced. Even Van Jones was in favor before he “picked up the phone” and started defending Biden.
I'm not a masochist so I don't know if I saw it myself, but I heard a similar story was told on MSNBC.
Then the editorial staff of the New York Times showed up.
All of this is shocking in itself. But the outcry doesn’t end there. Now even Democrats are joining the chorus.
Longtime Ohio congressman Tim Ryan even wrote a column for Newsweek urging Biden to resign and turn to Kamala Harris.
Look, nobody blamed Tim Ryan. smart, It’s just brave. In Ryan’s eyes, now is the time to “pass the torch” to a new generation. He says Biden is uniquely positioned to do so.
And he's frankly right. Biden is not new old. He was old when he was vice president. He was old in 2020. The idea that Ryan will step down after one term to “stabilize the country” (ha!) is not a bad idea in itself. Sure, it's a ploy and a lame excuse, but we know that it won't be easy for the Democrats to break ranks.
Nonetheless, Ryan says it's time to rip the Band-Aid off!

Incumbent MP Lloyd Doggett joins the appeal
Lloyd Doggett, a far-left congressman from Austin, Texas, agrees with Ryan that Biden should resign.
Remember when I mentioned 1968? Rep. Doggett was thinking the same thing. “I represent the heart of a congressional district that Lyndon Johnson once represented. Under very different circumstances, he made the painful decision to withdraw. President Biden must do the same.”
Unlike Ryan, Doggett offered a more compelling reason why Biden should drop out.
- Biden lags behind lower-ranking Democrats in key states
- Biden's failures in the debate
- Biden promised a transitional policy.

Whatever happens, folks, this year will go down in history books more than any other year.
