As other courts have held, these reasonable precautions are sufficiently warranted by the defendant's past conduct and the prejudice to ongoing proceedings if appropriate protective measures are not taken. The relief requested here is narrowly tailored to protect the integrity of the upcoming trial while providing defendant with ample opportunity to participate in speeches, including speeches about this case.
America has already witnessed Trump's attempts to intimidate and manipulate jurors, witnesses, prosecutors, court staff, and judges. The recently concluded New York fraud civil trial clearly showed Trump's actions. The former president attacked judges, court officials and the New York attorney general in the only civil trial. Convicting Trump could be game over, so the courts will have to take precautions as Trump is likely to spiral out of control.
